Ripley's Believe It Or Not, STRIKINGLY TRUE page caption:

"Man Made Monsters
Using only man made materials, Californian artist Doug Higley makes scary monsters and mutants for magicians and showmen to display at flea markets and small fairs across the world. He has created fake mummified and petrified creatures, bogus mermaids, shrunken heads, chupacabras, freaky jungle pygmies and atomic death worms. His work is so popular that it has been exhibited in 34 countries and one of his mermaids even appeared at Buckingham Palace for the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. He also once created 42 mermaids for a successful car dealer promotion in the US and Canada, whereby potential customers were invited to see the 'strange creature' found in the trunk of a trade-in and take a test drive. People were so curious that thousands of cars were sold."

"Being selected will al;ways be a major moment, as all of my life from a little kid I was a fan and inspired tremendously by the work of Robert Ripley and especially the Odditoriums. Yeah this was a BIG deal to actually have my work featured in one!!"
